This position offers the opportunity to support multiple clients in a remote, stable, long-term contract engagement.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and test backend applications and services using Java, Node.js, and PostgreSQLDesign, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services on Microsoft AzurePartner directly with clients to gather requirements, provide technical recommendations, and communicate progress and tradeoffs clearlyWork with other engineers to design and implement software architecture, including APIs and microservicesWrite unit tests and follow test-driven development practicesTranslate business requirements into technical specifications alongside product managers and stakeholdersOptimize application performance, scalability, and securityDebug and troubleshoot software issues across the stack, including in live client environmentsManage client expectations and priorities on multiple concurrent projectsQualificationsMust-Have:Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with direct client-facing experience requiredStrong programming skills in Java and Node.jsExperience with PostgreSQL and relational database designExperience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL/Storage, or similar)Experience with RESTful API design and developmentExperience with Git and other version control systemsExcellent problem-solving and debugging skillsExcellent client management, communication, and teamwork skills — comfortable presenting technical decisions to non-technical stakeholdersUnderstanding of modern DevOps principlesNice-to-Have:Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with messaging/event systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus)Location:Remote, but USA-based, Eastern or Central Standard Time ZoneWe offer:$70 per hour, 1099, long-term contract with the potential for full-timeRed Hawk Technologies is an equal opportunity employer.
