Schedule Notes: Mon-Fri, 7AM-6PM 8-hour shift (negotiable time)The primary work arrangement for this position is remote; however, occasional in-office presence may be required for meetings or specific projects and support.Job Summary: The purpose of the Network Engineer position is to design, implement, maintain, and secure the organization's network infrastructure to ensure reliable, high-performing, and scalable connectivity. This role supports business operations by minimizing downtime, optimizing network performance, enabling secure access to systems and data, and providing the technical foundation required for current and future technology initiatives.Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project Product and vision.Participate in software selection and vendor evaluation processes.Participate in and lead network-related projects, including upgrades, expansions, and migrationsAssist with planning, scheduling, testing, and implementation of network changesEnsure projects are delivered on time, within Product, and aligned with business requirementsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technology refresh effortsParticipate in security improvement initiatives (e.g., segmentation, zero-trust efforts)Work directly with business leaders to capture incoming requests and translate incoming demand into concrete IS deliverables and specific changes to the environmentProactively initiate, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external team members to achieve group goals and objectivesMaintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, standards, and proceduresClearly document incidents, changes, and solutions in ticketing and knowledge management systemsCommunicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersProvide regular updates on network status, risks, and improvements to management and team membersMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance, connectivity, and security issuesProvide tier 2/3 network support for LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and internet connectivityRespond to incidents, outages, and service requests in accordance with SLAsPerform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching of network infrastructureConfigure, manage, and maintain network firewalls and security appliancesMonitor firewall performance, availability, and security eventsApply firewall rule changes, firmware updates, and patches following change management processesSupport secure remote access and site-to-site connectivityDesign scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions to meet current and future business needsDesign secure network connectivity using firewalls, segmentation, and access controlsEvaluate new technologies, tools, and vendors to improve network performance and reliabilityEstablish and develop network design standards and best practicesSupport cloud, hybrid, and on-premises network design initiativesEnsure network designs align with security standards and compliance requirementsCollaborate with architecture, security, and application teams to ensure integrated solutionsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team membersParticipate in change management, risk assessments, and technical reviewPromote best practices for network security, reliability, and operational excellenceWilling to work additional or irregular hours as neededParticipate in on-call rotation or be available for system support after normal business hoursPerform cross-functional duties as assignedSkills:Required Skills & Experience:Five (5)+ years of experience in network engineering or network administrationStrong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and architecturesHands-on experience with enterprise networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto)Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting toolsUnderstanding of network security principles and best practicesExperience in requirements gathering, design, development, and gap analysisUnderstand general technical design specifications and architecture to identify potential challenges with supporting the identified business requirementsStrong communication skillsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication and documentation abilitiesAbility to work independently and collaborativelyAttention to detail and commitment to reliability and securityAbility to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experienceAbility to take a business problem and break it down into a series of actionable steps that ultimately help address the gapExperience with cloud networking and SD-WANScripting or automation
