To ensure the refl ection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff , parents and students.? Provide preventive health services to facilitate the student's optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development.? Identifi es problems and disabilities and provides such services as case fi ndings, health education, referring and care in order to help prevent serious health problems which would later be more diffi cult and costly to address.? Support the education process by working to assure the health of all students.Additional Job Information Promotes and protects the optimal health status of school-age children Complies with district policies and procedures. Maintains high standards, ethical behavior, and confi dentiality of student issues. Exemplifi es strong work ethics and professionalism (i.e. promptness, attendance and professional dress). Attends school and state sponsored workshops and seminars to remain current on certifi cation and on changes in laws and procedures Provides health assessments a. Obtains a health history b. Screens and evaluated fi ndings of defi cit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth c. Observes the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessments. d. Identifi es abnormal; health fi ndings Develops and implements a student health plan a. Interprets the health status of students to parent and school personnel. b. Initiates referral to parents, school personnel or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow- through. c. Provides ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies. d. Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate are of students. Maintains, evaluates and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students Plans and implements school health management protocols Participates in home visits to assess the family needs as related to the child?s health. (If the student is Homebound due to sickness or illness) Develops procedures and provides for emergency nursing management for injuries/illnesses Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases Oversees all medications administered to students Provides health education and anticipatory guidance a. Provides direct health education, and health counseling to assist students and families in making decisions on health and lifestyles that affect health.
