Receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected. This position will be specifically focused on food chemistry and food analysis.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\n\nFollowing established SOP’s and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements, prepare and process samples, and collect information about the composition of substances to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis, and product development\n\nPrepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, media, and samples for sample analyses\n\nUtilize specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to process and analyze samples\n\nPerform equipment and instrumentation set up\n\nAccurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of data\n\nMaintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review\n\nMonitor and address sample backlog issues\n\nMaintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks and equipment records\n\nPerform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS\n\nMay be asked to perform duties of a Technical Manager or Study Manager\n\nComply with and promote Safety, and Quality programs\n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\n\nHigh School Diploma; plus, two years of related experience or a bachelor’s degree\n\nBasic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting\n\nAbility to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders\n\nAbility to work with delicate laboratory equipment\n\nAbility to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\n\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
