Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting and treasury-related functions in support of the Accounting department. This role contributes to the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the organization’s financial records through the preparation and posting of journal entries, general ledger account analysis, bank reconciliations, disbursement processing, trust and escrow accounting, payroll support, and online banking activities. The position also supports treasury operations, including daily cash reporting, account funding, and payment processing.This role requires strong analytical ability, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentEssential Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of account balancesPerform financial analyses to support month-end close, account review, and management reportingReport daily cash receipts and monitor cash balances for primary operating accountsExecute escrow and trust accounting activities in accordance with applicable procedures and internal controlsSupport monthly and period-end close processes, including preparing, recording, and posting general journal entriesProcess online banking transactions, including employee expense reimbursement file imports, wire transfers, and ACH transactionsAnalyze general ledger activity and help identify, research, and resolve account discrepanciesCommunicate effectively with accounting personnel in other offices to resolve inquiries, reconcile differences, and ensure consistency in financial reportingPerform other duties as assignedEducation RequiredBachelor’s degree Accounting requiredRequiredSkills and ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experienceStrong verbal and written communication skillsSolid mathematical and quantitative aptitude, including basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionIntermediate proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExceptional attention to detailStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlinesStrong understanding of accounting principles, basic GAAP, and financial analysisPreferredKnowledge of 3E financial system preferredExperience in external/internal auditing or law firm preferredSalary InformationNY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 at the time of posting.The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
