The Nurse duties encompass evaluating, facilitating, and overseeing all aspects of the children’s medical and dental care. Emphasizing disease prevention and health upkeep, the Registered Nurse collaborates closely with medical providers to ensure children in our care receive the best health services available. This position is\nalso tasked with providing supervisory oversight for the medical department team.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nCompliance:\no Keep up-to-date with all local, state, and federal policies and procedures related to medical\ncoordination and services for Unaccompanied Children under the care of the Office of Refugee\nResettlement (ORR).\no Ensure adherence to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.\no Oversee and maintain medical files accurately.\no Guarantee timely and accurate documentation in the VisionQuest database and ORR-UC Portal, along with keeping a physical copy of necessary documents and medical records.\no Make sure all documentation complies with VisionQuest, ORR, and Licensing policies. Regularly perform audits to check for compliance.\no Conduct at least monthly departmental audits following VisionQuest Policies and Procedures. Also, carry out frequent audits of the ORR UC Portal. Perform additional monitoring as required.\nMedical Services Coordination & Response:\no Provide timely medical, dental, and mental health services for children using local\nproviders, ensuring compliance with Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), VisionQuest\n(VQ), and state licensing requirements.\no Organize and coordinate the scheduling and transportation of children to their medical,\ndental, and mental health appointments.\no Collaborate with health professionals to uphold health and safety standards, including\nadherence to licensing requirements, disease reporting, immunizations, injury prevention,\nmedication management for out-of-home childcare, and leverage community health and\nmental health resources.\no Attend medical, dental, and mental health appointments as necessary, especially for\nchildren with complex medical needs or to support the medical department.\no Assist medical provider staff during appointments as needed and dispense\nover-the-counter and prescribed medications in accordance with VisionQuest’s medication\npolicy.\no Respond immediately to the emergency medical needs of children in care.\no Manage treatment authorization requests with insurance and maintain good relationships\nwith community providers to ensure they accept the insurance and receive timely payments.\no Educate and counsel children on their health conditions, treatment options, and disease\nprevention.
