CNC Machinist II - Swing Shift

Summary Responsible for the safe operation of machining equipment and tools that produce precision parts. Produces small batches or large quantities and ensures products meet precise customer specifications. This is a swing shift position with the hours 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Runs and operates one or more manual or CNC machine tools, saws, and hand tools producing product to Toyo Tanso USA’s quality specifications Runs and operates multiple machines simultaneously, with at least 25% run with minimal supervision Works in a team atmosphere with all department and interdepartmental personnel Meets company goals and objectives Solves practical problems and manages a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Maintains a respectful and positive dialog with interdepartmental customers Uses good judgment and takes initiative in resolving complex nonstandard problems and developing recommendations Uses GD&T tolerances to read blue prints. Loads own tooling and “Touches off” tools and makes offset changes as needed Sets up machine following established ISO and SOP procedures. Uses basic knowledge of quality control and knows how to interpret and use basic inspection techniques (i.e. measuring hand tools) Uses strong working relationships with all immediate business unit members and other business units including team members of other shifts (e.g. crossover notes) Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications & Requirements High School diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to five years’ experience operating CNC machines. Must have experience with measuring equipment, micrometers, tape measures and calipers required. Works towards completion of company Machinist I & II training within first 90 days of employment. Understanding on company ISO and SOP procedures. Actively learns the basics of GD&T tolerancing Must have knowledge of basic shop math Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ablity to interpret varied written instructions, diagrams, or oral instructions. Must be able to frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery. Must be able to be occasionally exposed to occasional fumes or airborne graphite particles. Must be able to be exposed to noise levels that are generally moderate but some areas of the machine shop higher decimals which requires PPE. Have the ability to be exposed to noise levels that are generally moderate; however, some areas of the machine shop are loud and require earplugs to be worn throughout the day Must be able to occasionally lift 35 pounds Must be able to regularly perform repetitive tasks Toyo Tanso USA offers great benefits!
