Projects vary by customer and application, so you’re not maintaining the same production line or doing the same thing every day.\n\nWhile many custom equipment and integration roles can require 25–50%+ travel, this position is typically around 0–5%. The company has a dedicated field service team, allowing Controls Engineers to spend almost all of their time engineering and supporting equipment from the Dayton facility.\n\nThe culture is also genuinely flexible. This isn't an environment where everyone is expected at their desk at the exact same time every morning. The team has flexibility around start/end times and understands that people have families and lives outside of work.\n\n*What You’ll Be Doing*\n\n* Develop and modify Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC and HMI programs\n* Program automated equipment from initial development through testing and startup\n* Create and modify electrical schematics, panel layouts, I/O drawings, and related documentation\n* Specify controls hardware and electrical components\n* Work with motors, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial controls\n* Support equipment involving pumps, valves, pressure, flow, temperature, and process controls\n* Troubleshoot electrical, controls, networking, and equipment issues\n* Participate in machine debugging, testing, and FAT\n* Work closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and field service throughout projects\n* Support commissioning when needed, with very limited travel\n\n*What They’re Looking For*\n\n* 5+ years of Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or similar experience\n* Strong PLC programming experience; Allen-Bradley / Rockwell strongly preferred\n* HMI programming and troubleshooting experience\n* Industrial electrical design and controls hardware experience\n* Ability to read and develop electrical schematics\n* Background with custom machinery, automated equipment, systems integration, OEM equipment, or process automation\n* Familiarity with industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP\n* Experience with pumps, valves, instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, or process controls is a plus\n* Someone who enjoys understanding how equipment works and taking ownership of problems through resolution\n\n*Why Consider It?*\n\nFor someone who enjoys the technical variety of custom automation but is tired of the travel that normally comes with it, this is a pretty unique opportunity.\n\nYou still get full-lifecycle engineering, different applications, hands-on troubleshooting, and a mix of hardware and software — without spending weeks at customer sites.
