Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $126,308/year.\n\nLOCATION OF POSITION\n2 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 with occasional travel to the Department’s headquarters in Lanham, MD. DHCD offers a combination “hybrid” in-person/telework work environment.\n\nPOSITION DUTIES\nThis Director position provides key leadership and policy expertise in the field of community development. The Director leads a team of Assistant Directors, Program Officers and Project Managers to implement the Sustainable Communities designation, which guides the division’s investments across the state as well as data evaluation and research, historic preservation programs, policy and program development, and legislative initiatives.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nEducation\nA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.\n\nExperience\nEight years of management experience in the community development field such as performing community stakeholder engagement and/or planning, implementing community development projects and programs, and administering community development grant and loan programs. Additionally, must have a minimum of four years experience in a supervisory role or leading a team.\n\nNotes\n\nExperience in the community development field, such as performing community stakeholder engagement, implementing community development projects and programs, and administering community development grant and loan programs may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.\n\nA graduate degree may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience.\n\nDesired Or Preferred Qualifications\n\nExperience developing and implementing reinvestment strategies for urban communities.\n\nExperience with grant administration with government and/or nonprofit organizations.\n\nExperience in the area of community planning or community development.\n\nSELECTION PROCESS\nSuccessful candidates will be placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year. Eligible list may be used to fill future vacancies of the same classification.\n\nSuccessful candidates must document eligibility to work in the U.S. upon hire.\n\nAll applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986. Federal regulations prohibit H1B Visa candidates from paying sponsorship fees, all sponsorship fees must be assumed by the potential employer.\n\nEXAMINATION PROCESS\nThe examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position.
