An excellent opportunity for recent undergraduate or graduate candidates to gain hands-on technical experience through early-stage design and engineering within a renewable focused team. This is a multi-faceted role that involves project level technical diligence, engineering, construction support, new technology assessment and risk analysis.Sol Systems is an independent power producer committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize conceptual layouts using SIFT, PVcase, Prospect and/or equivalent tools based on soil characteristics, environmental and land constraints, constructability and cost-effectiveness.Perform energy assessments using PVsyst, SIFT, and/or equivalent tools to ensure production targets are optimized and meet financial goals.Assist Senior Engineers to conduct technology reviews for PV and energy storage equipment, associated manufacturers for acceptability for use in long term operating assets.Support design reviews of EPC drawings as owner representative and ensure the delivery of the PV and Storage system meets prudent industry standards and owner’s Technical SpecificationsMaintain an organized and clearly documented set of project specific technical deliverables.Coordinate with the project’s Independent Engineer (IE) to ensure IE reports are prepared accurately and comprehensively, safeguarding both the project’s interests and long-term ownership objectives.Coordinate with Owner’s Engineer (OE) to facilitate design reviews and communicate with internal technical stakeholders and EPC.Support responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction phase.Conduct site visits and inspections prior to or during construction.Manage external consultants and partners, including developing Scope of Work documents, managing RFP process, and controlling scope and schedule to obtain similar deliverables.A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another STEM-related field.Curious and motivated to acquire a deep understanding of renewable energy fundamentals0-2 years of experience in utility-scale PV system design and engineeringFamiliarity with utility-scale PV Design and Energy Assessment is preferred but not requiredAbility to view engineering and technical matters through a commercial lensAble to travel during project acquisition, preconstruction and/or construction phases as requiredLocation: This position is based in our Washington, DC office. We operate a hybrid work schedule.Commitment & Compensation: The base salary for this role is between $80,000 and $100,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position. .
