Safety Manager
DescriptionThe Safety Manager will develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive occupational health and safety policies and procedures across multiple locations to promote and ensure effective safety operations throughout the organization. This role requires expertise in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement in safety performance, reduce workplace incidents, and optimize safety processes while maintaining regulatory compliance.Supervisory Responsibilities:Oversees safety staff and coordinators across multiple facility locationsEnsures that clerical and safety staff maintain the OSHA safety log and other administrative requirements related to safety operations and regulationsManages safety team performance, training, and developmentCoordinates safety initiatives and standardizes best practices across all locationsSafety Leadership & Compliance:Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures across all locationsEnsures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules at each facilityEnsures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting for all sitesProvides technical and administrative support to safety committees at each locationStops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipmentReviews accident and incident reports from all locations and identifies trendsConducts comprehensive safety inspections and audits across multiple facilities to assess employee compliance with safety regulationsContinuous Improvement & Lean Six Sigma:Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate safety hazards and inefficienciesLead DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) projects focused on reducing workplace injuries and incidentsConduct root cause analysis using Six Sigma tools (5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, Pareto analysis) to prevent recurring safety issuesImplement process improvements that enhance safety protocols while reducing waste and improving operational efficiencyEstablish and monitor safety KPIs and metrics across all locations to drive data-driven decision makingFacilitate kaizen events and continuous improvement workshops focused on safety performanceDevelop and maintain standard work procedures that integrate safety and efficiency best practicesMulti-Location Management:Travel regularly to all facility locations to conduct site visits, inspections, and safety assessmentsCoordinate safety programs and initiatives across geographically dispersed facilitiesEnsure consistency in safety standards, training, and compliance across all locationsDevelop site-specific safety plans that address unique hazards while maintaining organizational standardsBuild strong relationships with location managers and safety coordinators to foster a unified safety cultureBenchmark safety performance across locations and share best practicesManage emergency response planning and crisis management protocols for all sitesTraining & Culture Development:Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards across all locationsReviews safety training programs and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates using continuous improvement principlesDevelops and delivers Lean-based safety training that integrates efficiency with safety protocolsIdentifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems through proactive measuresFosters a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement at all organizational levelsCreates communication strategies to share safety successes and lessons learned across locationsRequirementsSkills/Abilities:Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standardsStrong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles and their application to safety managementProven ability to manage safety programs across multiple locations and coordinate remote teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence across all organizational levelsStrong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and performance metricsAbility to conduct training and facilitate continuous improvement workshopsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong supervisory and leadership skills with experience managing geographically dispersed teamsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis tools, and safety management softwareExperience with root cause analysis methodologies and problem-solving toolsEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field requiredAt least seven years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment requiredMinimum three years of experience managing safety operations across multiple locations requiredLean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required;
