Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible.Job DescriptionThe Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the delivery of capital projects across transmission, distribution, and grid modernization portfolios. This role focuses on project coordination, governance adherence, reporting, and enabling Project Managers (PMs) to execute safely, on schedule, and within budget.Key Responsibilities. This Role Would Be In Portland OregonProject Coordination & Execution SupportSupport PMs in day-to-day management of capital projects (scope, schedule, cost)Track deliverables, action items, and key milestones across multiple projectsCoordinate with engineering, construction, environmental, and permitting teamsSchedule & Cost ManagementMaintain and update project schedules (Primavera P6 / MS Project)Track budgets, forecasts, and variances; support cost controls and change managementAssist in invoice review and contractor progress validationGovernance & Stage Gate SupportSupport stage gate process (initiation through closeout)Prepare gate review materials, business cases, and supporting documentationEnsure compliance with internal governance and regulatory requirementsReporting & PMO AlignmentDevelop weekly/monthly status reports, dashboards, and KPI trackingMaintain project documentation in alignment with PMO standardsSupport portfolio-level reporting and executive updatesRisk & Issue ManagementTrack risks, issues, and mitigation plansEscalate critical items to PMs and leadership as neededStakeholder CoordinationInterface with internal stakeholders and external partners (contractors, agencies)Support meeting coordination, agendas, and documentation of decisions/actionsEducationBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related fieldExperience2–5 years of experience supporting infrastructure, utility, or capital projectsExperience in electric T&D, substation, or grid modernization projects preferredTechnical SkillsScheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project)Cost tracking and financial reportingProficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and project management systemsCore CompetenciesStrong organizational and coordination skillsAttention to detail with ability to manage multiple prioritiesEffective communication across technical and non-technical teamsUnderstanding of utility project lifecycle and regulatory environmentPreferredExperience supporting PMO functions or portfolio reportingFamiliarity with utility standards, safety practices, and permitting processesCAPM or PMP (or working toward certification)Success MetricsOn-time delivery of assigned tasks and milestonesAccuracy and timeliness of reporting and documentationAdherence to governance and stage gate requirementsEffective support to PMs resulting in improved project performanceSecurity Clearance RequirementNoneThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 80 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
