{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"b2bcc2efa4a8aa041e5db056","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/b2bcc2efa4a8aa041e5db056","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/b2bcc2efa4a8aa041e5db056","title":"Senior PCB Layout Engineer","description":"Overview Join the RF Payload Design team at Blue Origin and contribute to the TeraWave satellite communications network by designing high-performance PCBs for millimeter-wave, microwave, and mixed-signal systems.\r\nResponsibilities Lead the design, fabrication, and testing of multi-layer PCBs for mmWave and microwave RF, complex digital, mixed-signal, and high-power systems.\r\nDevelop PCB layouts for digital, analog, and RF circuits with impedance control, loss tangent, and electromagnetic compatibility.\r\nPerform signal integrity analysis for high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet) and high-speed ADCs/DACs.\r\nConduct PCB stackup feasibility and trace routability studies to inform payload architectural trades.\r\nLead the PCB OK2FAB process, including DRC checks, design release, fabrication drawing preparation, assembly drawing, and assembly documentation.\r\nWork with PCB fabricators and CM vendors to ensure manufacturability and resolve fabrication issues.\r\nSupport board bring-up activities, debugging hardware issues related to PCB design.\r\nDesign for space environment considerations, including thermal management, radiation tolerance, and mechanical stress.\r\nQualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of PCB design experience.\r\nProficiency with Altium Designer (preferred), Cadence Allegro, or similar PCB design tools.\r\nStrong understanding of signal integrity principles for high-speed digital design (transmission lines, termination, crosstalk).\r\nExperience with high-density HDI board design with dense fanout and routing.\r\nExperience with controlled impedance design and PCB stackup optimization.\r\nExperience with high-voltage layout design, including creepage clearance and thermal management.\r\nKnowledge of EMI/EMC best practices and design guidelines.\r\nFamiliarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610).\r\nPreferred Qualifications Experience with RF/microwave PCB design using high-frequency laminates (Rogers, Taconic, etc.).\r\nKnowledge of power integrity analysis tools (HyperLynx, Ansys SIwave, Cadence Sigrity).\r\nFamiliarity with thermal analysis tools and thermal management techniques for high-power electronics.\r\nExperience designing for space environment (vacuum, thermal cycling, radiation, vibration).\r\nUnderstanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.\r\nKnowledge of conformal coating, potting, and other space-qualification techniques.\r\nPrevious experience with aerospace or satellite PCB designs.\r\nFamiliarity with MIL-STD or NASA standards for PCB design.\r\nBenefits Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with company match up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.\r\nStock options for all regular employees (working at least 20 hours/week).
