Responsibilities include making minor adjustments to the machinery to achieve the correct product, troubleshooting, maintenance of machinery, and record keeping.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nMaintains shift documentation (i.e., Metal Detector and Batch Order Verifications)\nReads production schedule and plans accordingly.\nReads and interprets schedule in MicroStrategy.\nAble to print labels on different printers, choosing correct program for each printer; move eye and clean printers.\nPerform nitrogen testing.\nEfficiently maintains the operation of packaging machinery by monitoring codes, dates, and prices.\nMaintains an adequate supply of roll stock and ensures all packaging materials are available for each machine.\nSet up and write new programs for bag makers.\nWrites and/or edits machine micro logic as needed to maintain an efficient and low waste operation.\nCreating and modifying code dates.\nPerforms preventative maintenance on equipment. Sets up and makes minor scale repairs and adjustments.\nPerform span calibration and/or adjustments on scales, adjust scales linkages so it opens and shuts correctly, make minor adjustments to formers.\nEfficiently operates packaging equipment which may include case sealers and robot cells. This includes but is not limited to machine setups, troubleshooting, changeovers, proper running, procedural adjustments, sanitation cleanup, preventative maintenance, and shutdown.\nProperly plans ahead for machine changeovers and efficiently changing from one product item to another.\nMonitors and adjusts each machine to ensure proper cut off film and bags have proper end seals and back seals as required.\nEnsures machines are running at standard speeds.\nMonitors product appearance and adheres to weight control program.\nPerforms bag weight checks every 20 minutes and inspects for quality issues.\nAble to run bagger, scales, counting conveyor, seal checker, weight check, case packers, and other auxiliary equipment as needed.\nIdentifies and resolves packaged product quality issues.\nProperly accounts for product run off and handles this product; accordingly, sorts through and reworks all good product\nKeeps machines and work areas clean, wipes packaging machines off and blows down area when required to do so.\nImmediately reports any maintenance problems to appropriate technician and/or supervisor.\nPractices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.\nStores supplies in designated areas.\nKeeps work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstruction; removes trash from work area floor.\nFollows instructions for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes, and weights; identifies/reports issues with equipment; reports all job-related injuries to supervision.\nMay provide leadership and direction to packers.\nMay be qualified to perform as Back-up Packaging Coordinator, or other technical/skilled position.\nIf applicable, may monitor and replenish seasoning on overhead to ensure proper seasoning coverage on product.\nMandatory overtime may be required.\nMay perform other duties as required.\nQUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB\nEducation: High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.\nExperience: 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.\nPHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS\nSitting: Seldom\nDriving: Seldom\nStanding: Continuously\nWalking: Frequently\nUsing hands: Continuously\nClimbing: Occasionally\nSquatting/Kneeling: Frequently\nTalking/Hearing: Continuously\nTwo Handed Carry: Frequently\nReaching: Continuously\nPushing: Continuously\nPulling: Continuously\nOverhead Work Standing: Frequently\nLadder Climbing: Occasionally\nRepetitive Twisting Standing: Frequently\nFine motor Skills/Manipulation: Continuously\nBending: Continuously\nVison (Far, Near, Peripheral, and Depth Perception): Continuously\nFollow Directions and Routines: Frequently\nConcentrate, Memorize, and Recall: Frequently\nAnalyze Data: Occasionally\nProblem Solving: Frequently\nWork Independently with Appropriate Judgment: Frequently\nRead, Write, Comprehend Numbers and Words: Frequently\nLift/Carry/Push Weight:\nUp to 10 lbs.: Continuously\nUp to 25 lbs.: Frequently\nUp to 50 lbs.: Frequently\nUp to 100 lbs.: Occasionally (must be with assistance)\nMore than 100 lbs.: Seldom (must be with assistance)\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
