https://www.ardaninc.com/california-employee-and-job-application-privacy-notice/ GENERAL PURPOSE: Provides underwriting support and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customer(s), related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance. Provides guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services. Issues underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Examine title orders within company guidelines to determine the conditions of the title and insurability by considering the effect of documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates and other matters of recordResearch respective title plant software, analyze and evaluate pertinent record documents for determination of ownership, legal descriptions, and any conjunction to titleExplain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managersRecognize title defects and formulate curative solutionAssess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the company, and bring these matters to the attention of the local title manager, state title manager or underwriter, as appropriate.Maintain proper production levels and delivery standards on a daily basisReview surveys prepared on properties, if applicableWork closely with the customer and escrow staff to meet time requirements for options, and assist with answering questionsPrepare an accurate and compressive title commitment in accordance with company examining and policy proceduresPerform other duties assigned by manager Required experience:5+ years title underwriting experienceMust be familiar with real estate lawStrong understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of real estate title and settlement processGeneral knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to real estate title insurance and settlement servicesGeneral understanding of underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policiesAbility to collaborate and act decisivelyDetail orientedExcellent listening, verbal, and written communication skillsGood organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and timely follow upStrong negotiation skills Requires abstract thinking and creative solutions Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
