Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes. Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet requirements. Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts, or processes. Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions. Develops computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements. Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN, and quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design, and qualification, (3) work procedures, and (4) labs and office areas.\n\nPosition Responsibilities\n\nApplies engineering knowledge of electrical, electronic, and electro‑mechanical components in evaluation of components for assembly and subassembly repair/design\n\nDirectly supports sub‑contractors and suppliers to ensure their electronic components are qualified for Company usage per the contract\n\nWork in a harsh / high‑reliability design environment, including previous aerospace, medical device, automotive, or industrial design/application experience\n\nKnowledgeable of connectors, wires, and cables, including the fabrication of cables/bundles, installation of cables/harnesses, etc.\n\n6+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.\n\nWhat you’ll need\nMust Have Competencies\n\nExperience or coursework that has given the candidate a familiarity with basic electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, integrated circuits, etc.)\n\nStrong evidence of ability to work as part of a team and familiarity with the idea of working within a hierarchal organization as demonstrated by class projects or past experience\n\nStrong writing and communication skills in addition to a focus on attention to detail\n\nUnderstanding of the concept of requirements and requirements documentation\n\nUnderstanding the concept of qualifying parts, evaluating parts\n\nNice to Have Competencies\n\nComponent evaluation/design/qualification, experience with industry/military aerospace standards (SAE, Mil‑specs, ASTMs, IEEE, especially in the area of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS)\n\nPast work experience with connectors, wires, and cable (i.e. electrical interconnect) wiring harnesses, any manufacturing experience\n\nSpecific experience with any sort of heightened requirement or harsh environment application space, including industrial, medical, automotive, aerospace, and military\n\nSpecific experience with fiber‑optic interconnect or systems\n\nExperience writing requirements or defining parameters of electrical systems/parts (similar to qualifying parts)\n\nExperience with SSOWs or ensuring deliverables for customers\n\nSpecific experience with any type of electrical component fabrication\n\nSpecific experience with writing and reviewing requirements\n\nExperience with component‑level design and part selection, including both “from scratch” designs and searching for alternate part substitutions within an established system/circuit\n\nExperience with testing and troubleshooting electrical systems and parts\n\nBachelor’s degree and typically 2 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master’s degree with experience in an engineering classification.
