Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Step into an advanced patient care environment specializing in progressive care unit (PCU) nursing on a contract basis. This unit manages a dynamic caseload with an average census of 36 beds, focused on high-acuity patients experiencing COPD, pulmonary diseases, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, renal failure, sepsis, and more. Nurses deliver care using advanced modalities such as mechanical ventilation, titratable IV drips, and managing tracheostomies.Schedule & HoursContract position; specific shift options provided upon interviewRequired Qualifications & ExperienceCurrent RN license in good standingMinimum of 18 months recent PCU experienceBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredExperience with:Tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patientsCardiac rhythm interpretation and transvenous pacemakersChest tubes, cardiac drips, and blood product administrationWound care and dressing changesOpenness to floating within designated regional facilities as patient needs requireFirst-time travelers are welcomeKey ResponsibilitiesManage a 1:3–4 nurse-to-patient ratio for complex cardiac and pulmonary patientsCollaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, virtual nursing, and multi-disciplinary teams including case managers and respiratory therapistsUtilize state-of-the-art technology: EPIC, Alaris Pumps, Omnicell, Phillips Monitors, Rover CommunicationAccurately recognize and respond to critical patient events, providing interventions per protocolsFloat to other units and facilities within the region as neededProfessional PerksWarm, team-based work culture with strong interdepartmental supportFree onsite parkingUniform scrubs provided (Navy Blue for RNs)Comprehensive unit orientation and access to ongoing nurse education resourcesGrow your clinical expertise and enjoy the camaraderie of a high-performing PCU team.
