These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.Position Summary:Bruce School is seeking exceptional Sixth Grade teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectation. The teacher will be responsible for teaching our core history classes.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Take responsibility to be a strong, positive force daily in their classroom - consistently and thoughtfully motivate students to work hard and want to learn;Design, implement, and collaborate around high quality shared curricula that incorporate research-based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards;Motivate students to reach high achievement by setting class-wide and individual goals and provide specific and actionable feedback to students on their progress towards academic goals;Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers, associate teachers, and staff, and provide regular feedback to help develop associate teachers;Engage in weekly professional development and intensive coaching with administration and colleagues and embrace a growth mindset to actively improve instruction, curriculum, and management;Wholeheartedly embrace school-wide systems to ensure consistency within the school learning community to ensure smooth transitions between classes and grades for all students, e.g. school-wide writing practices, annotation strategies, behavior system;Use school-wide behavior system to establish strong classroom culture, consistent routines, and high expectations for students to ensure that culture is uniform throughout the school and thus ensuring the least amount of learning time is wasted;Other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Active Massachusetts Teacher Certification with SEI EndorsementProficient in English; Bilingual (Spanish) preferredBe a team player and a problem solverHave strong communication skillsBe reliable and resilientHave experience in urban educationRecognize and support the academic and social/emotional needs of each childHave the ability to create and effectively manage a positive classroom cultureBe familiar with Restorative Justice Practices and other student-centered social-emotional approachesHave familiarity with Wonders ELA, Eureka Math, Inspire Science, and Impact Social Studies curriculum programsThe hired candidate will be working in a self-contained classroom teaching all subject areasQualifications & Requirements:Bachelor's Degree Required/ Master's Degree preferred;Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL preferred;Current Authorization to work in the United States.Equal Opportunity Employer:Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
