This is a high-ownership, build-from-the-foundation seat: you shape architecture, build reliable pipelines and trusted data models, and set engineering standards so our data scales with the company.\r\nWhat you'll do\r\nPlatform & Architecture\r\nDesign and scale our data platform across pipelines, models, and orchestration.\r\nDefine and implement systems for data ingestion, storage, processing, and transformation.\r\nOptimize systems for performance, scalability, and cost from the start.\r\nPipelines & Engineering Practices\r\nBuild scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest from APIs, databases, and event streams.\r\nApply software engineering principles such as testing, CI/CD, and modular design to data infrastructure.\r\nEstablish best practices for data modeling, testing, and quality.\r\nData Enablement & Partnership\r\nBuild the semantic layer and dashboards that make data usable across the company.\r\nPartner with engineering, product, and business teams to shape data requirements.\r\nEnable trusted, accessible data for BI and analytics decision-making.\r\nWhat you bring\r\nRequired\r\n5+ years building production software, with at least 2-3 years focused on data engineering.\r\nStrong programming skills in Python and advanced proficiency in SQL.\r\nProven experience building end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines.\r\nHands-on experience with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and a modern data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).\r\nNice to have\r\nExperience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.\r\nExperience supporting BI tools such as Looker or Tableau, and building semantic layers and dashboards.\r\nDeep fluency across the full data lifecycle: ingestion, storage, processing, transformation, and serving.\r\nExperience in early-stage or 0-to-1 environments.\r\nExperience with streaming pipelines such as Kafka or Kinesis.\r\nExposure to ML/AI data pipelines, data analytics, or data science concepts.\r\nFamiliarity with Ruby and Rails.\r\nCompensation & Benefits\r\nFor U.S. candidates, the target salary range for this role is $170,000 – $190,000 USD, plus equity.
