Sow Farm Associate

Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionBelstra Group Farms is a pig production organization with over 20 swine farm facilities located in Northwest Indiana. Belstra is in search of individuals to fill full-time Sow Farm Associate positions. Belstra Group Farms is committed to producing the highest quality of pigs. This individual is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all animals at the designated farm. The individual member must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to):Monitor manure containment systems (pits, lagoons, composters, impoundments)Conduct manure and wastewater testingTrack manure volumes, storage levels, and seasonal impactsCoordinate manure application timing, rates, and pricing with licensed applicatorsMaintain nutrient application records for permitted farmsBuild relationships with crop farmers, agronomists, fertilizer companies, and applicatorsSupport regulatory compliance and participate in bi-annual inspections with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Illinois Department of AgricultureRequirementsSkills and Requirements (included but not limited to):Associate's degree or higher in agronomy, soil science, crop science, or related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience in nutrient management (manure or fertilizer)Strong record-keeping and analytical skillsWillingness to manage heavier workloads during spring and fallPhysical Demands:Stand, walk, and be on your feet 8 to 10 hours per day.Frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel.Frequently use one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull. (Employee uses power washer with 3000 psi force and 5 gallons per minute flow.)Frequently lift objects weighing 3 to 20 pounds.Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move.Work in different environments (dust, heat, cold)Education and Experience:High school diploma or G.E.DPrevious pig production experience is plus, but not required
