BNYDC constantly strives to provide an environment in which businesses and careers can take root and grow.\n\nWe are seeking a Building Engineer to operate, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair building mechanical and HVAC systems throughout the facility.\n\nAreas of Responsibility\nOperate, maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems and associated equipment.\nPerform routine inspection of all HVAC, and fire systems.\nMaintain compliance with City, County and State ordinances and codes.\nHandle daily reporting, logbooks, and assignments.\nIn coordination with Chief Engineer, prepare operational procedures to ensure code compliance of Mechanical Systems, FDNY Logs, and annual maintenance inspections.\nPerform facility walkthroughs for inspections, data gathering, photography, and audits.\nManage work orders through workflow applications.\nEnsure that operations are in compliance with safety procedures, client safety requirements, company policy and procedures, and applicable regulations and industry standards.\nMonitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed according to specifications and within the facilities rules and regulations.\nKeep abreast of new technologies and efficiency protocols for building operations.\nPerform related work and other duties as assigned\n\nThe above duties and responsibilities are not intended to limit specific duties and responsibilities of this position. It is not intended to limit in any way the authority of supervisors to assign, direct and control the work of employees under their supervision.\n\nRequired Skills and Abilities\n\nStrong project management, planning, and organizational skills\nExcellent oral and written communication skills\nMust be able to multi-task effectively and manage multiple deadlines\nIntermediate to advanced computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Excel and Word\nAbility to establish and maintain good working relationships with tenants, contractors, sub-contractors, clients, and employees\nAbility to look for new ways to improve internal processes and workflow\nProficient with BMS systems\nObtain additional FDNY Certificate of Fitness as required\nAbility to read blueprints\nAvailability to work overtime and respond to emergency situations as needed\nAbility to lift/move heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds), climb ladders, work in confined spaces and outdoors in all weather conditions\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nHS Diploma/GED\nDMV issued driver’s license\nCertification of Refrigeration required for Engineer position (Q01 Certification)\nEPA Universal Technician Certification\nOSHA 10-Hour\nPackage Unit experience\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nF-89 Certified (FLSD) Fire and Life Safety Director, or ability to initiate the certification process within three (3) months of hire\nOSHA 30-hour or OSHA 511 Course\nCategory 7G Cooling Tower Water Treatment License (DEC)\nFDNY Q-01 Certificate, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire\nSprinkler S-12 Certificate of Fitness (FDNY), or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire\nStandpipe S-13 Certificate of Fitness (FDNY), or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire\n\nBNYDC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
