As a member of our Tech team, you will support the maintenance and development of key .NET based web applications under the direction of the Director of Engineering and alongside senior engineering staff, as well as assist with the technical needs across the organization. While .NET development is the primary focus, this role also offers the opportunity to work across Scale Justice’s broader tech stack and grow into other development areas as needs evolve, including but not limited to testing, report writing, database maintenance, setup/maintenance of third-party tools, and researching emerging technologies.This is a full-time, remote-work position. We are a national organization with partners across the U.S., a strong program presence in New York State, and an office in New York City. Applicants based and authorized to work within the U.S. are welcome to apply.We offer a competitive salary and generous benefits package including four weeks of paid vacation, and an opportunity to work on innovative initiatives across the country that help thousands of people each year solve life-changing legal issues.Responsibilities:Application Development & MaintenanceSupport the maintenance and enhancement of Scale Justice’s award-winning .NET web applications, including LawHelp Interactive and Citizenshipworks, under the direction of the Director of Engineering and alongside senior engineering staff.Contribute to the development of new .NET–based web applications and features with guidance from senior engineering staff.Assist with development tasks across other areas of Scale Justice’s tech stack as needed, with opportunities to build skills in additional languages, frameworks, and platforms.Technical Support & OperationsHandle level 2 technical support requests, including bug tracking, database development and maintenance, third-party system setup, and configuration updates.Assist with network administration tasks and generate ad hoc reports as needed.Learning & Skill DevelopmentLearn and expand technical skills through mentorship from Tech and Product team staff, gaining broad exposure to software development, technical support, and project management processes.Participate in code reviews and internal knowledge-sharing to continuously build engineering competencies.Research & EvaluationSupport research into new products, technologies, frameworks, and solution approaches that can improve Scale Justice applications or internal workflows.Help evaluate emerging tools and best practices and share findings with the engineering and product teams.Training, Documentation & Internal SupportProvide demos, training sessions, and walkthroughs for internal staff to increase comfort with tools, technical processes, and updates.Assist in updating internal documentation, including technical guides, support materials, and application usage notes.Collaboration & Cross-Functional SupportConsult with Scale Justice staff across teams to understand technical needs, help plan processes, explore technical options, and support scoping.Contribute to usage and performance analytics, reporting, and market research to inform design and development decisions.Qualifications:At least two years of professional experience in .NET developing, with knowledge of the programming language (C#, javascript, DHTML, CSS), database programming and management (MS SQL Server), and development environment (Visual Studio, Azure Cloud, GitHub)Broad, general knowledge of—and willingness to work across—a range of technology areas, including network administration (M365, Azure, and Google Workspace administration), security, reporting (Google Analytics, SQL Server Reporting Services) and SDLC processes (design, testing, and project management tools such as Figma and GitHub), social media integration, and Generative AI.Excitement to understand, learn and guide the development of current and new systems.
