In this vital role, you will provide counseling services and support to cadets to promote personal growth, improve retention, and help them identify their life/career goals.\nThis position is also responsible for conducting individual and group counseling sessions for the program youth and prepares students to transition to placement immediately following completion of the program. Also provides classroom instruction of job skills and life coping skills curriculum.\nEssential Functions:\nUnder supervision of the Lead counselor, conduct individual, group and crisis counseling to positively affect retention of cadets and to identify their life/career goals. Provides daily feedback on cadets progress to supervisor.\nProvide individual counseling and group guidance in the areas of life coping skills, drug and alcohol education, character education, as well as individual/personal issues.\nAssist with retention of cadets as needed\nCoordinate and schedule guest speakers and field trips appropriate to counseling group subject matter\nAttend educational, institutional and department meetings and trainings as required\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nAbility to handle confidential information; exercise sound judgement in interpreting and applying rules or policy. Internet and computer skills for program database entry.\nEducation and Experience:\nBA/BS in counseling, education or related field required.\nMasters and Licensure (LPC/LBP) preferred\nLicenses/ Certificates required: LPC/LBP preferred\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds\nConditions of Employment:\nContingent on a favorable background check\nContingent on passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening\nMust maintain a valid driver’s license\nT1/CNACI security clearance (Eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. Citizens)\nServes a 12-month trial period\nContingent on receiving continuous federal funding\nNotes: This position is located in Pryor, OK\nOklahoma Employment eligibility verified through e-Verify (Homeland Security), and a National Agency Check for positions that require computer access. This position requires travel in and out of state with overnight stays.
