Title: Sr.Java Developer Location: Rockville, MD or McLean, VA (Hybrid)Contract: 6+ Months ContractOnly Local candidates who are in DC/VA/MD who can take Assessment before Submission and also required for F2F interviewOverviewThe Senior Software Engineer is a seasoned individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade software solutions within AWS cloud environments. This role works independently to deliver scalable, high-quality applications while contributing to architectural decisions, software quality improvements, DevOps practices, and mentoring junior engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable, enterprise-grade applications using Java and cloud-native AWS technologies; Python experience preferred.Build clean, modular, and high-performance backend services using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot.Develop and support RESTful and GraphQL APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.Architect scalable systems for document ingestion, metadata processing, persistence, and enterprise data workflows.Design and optimize relational, NoSQL, and graph database solutions, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4j, and Amazon Neptune.Implement and maintain cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services including Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, S3, ECS, Fargate, and Aurora.Support CI/CD automation and foster DevOps best practices across development teams.Analyze software engineering trends, testing strategies, and tooling improvements to recommend process enhancements.Partner cross-functionally to remove technical barriers, align priorities, and drive strategic objectives.Mentor and coach junior engineers on development practices, engineering standards, and technical problem-solving.Ensure code quality, software reliability, performance optimization, security, and test automation standards are consistently met.Required Technical SkillsBackend & Application DevelopmentStrong experience developing backend systems using Java and Spring BootExperience with Python preferredDeep understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principlesExpertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and event-driven architecturesCloud & DevOpsStrong hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologiesExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesKnowledge of containerized and cloud-native application developmentData & Persistence TechnologiesStrong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQLExperience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB and CassandraExperience with graph databases such as Neo4j and Amazon NeptuneExpertise in data modeling and scalable persistence strategiesSystem Design & Engineering ExcellenceStrong system design and architecture experience for large-scale enterprise applicationsExperience with performance tuning and application optimizationStrong focus on software security, test automation, and unit testingAbility to independently solve complex technical challenges and drive solutionsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 7 years of professional software engineering experienceProven experience building scalable, cloud-based enterprise applicationsStrong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
