Civil Designer

We are seeking a Civil Designer / Engineer Intern (EI) to support the design and development of residential subdivisions and site development projects. This position will be responsible for preparing construction documents (CD sets) and assisting in the design of grading, drainage, and utility systems under the direction of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, technically strong, works well in a team-oriented environment, efficient in production, and capable of managing multiple project components while adhering and adapting to established company drafting standards.Must be located in Northwest Arkansas and able to commute to our office location.Key Responsibilities Design & ProductionPrepare construction document (CD) sets for residential subdivisions and site development projects using AutoCAD Civil3DPerform grading and drainage design, including stormwater management and detention designDesign water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems in accordance with local and state standardsDevelop plan, profile, and detail sheetsAssist in lot layout, street design, and utility coordination for subdivision developmentsTechnical AnalysisAnalyze topographic data and existing conditions to inform design decisionsAssist with earthwork calculations and quantity takeoffsEnsure designs comply with municipal codes, ordinances, and design criteriaProject CoordinationCoordinate with internal team members, including PEs and project managersIncorporate review comments from the PE and revise plans accordinglyCommunicate with surveyors and other consultants as neededQuality ControlAssemble complete and accurate CD packages for PE review and stampingMaintain organized file structures and drawing standardsEnsure consistency, clarity, and constructability in all plansIdentify and help resolve design conflicts prior to final submittal  Qualifications1–4 years of experience in civil/site design (internship experience considered)2 years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D requiredFamiliarity with subdivision design, grading, and utility layoutPreferred SkillsExperience with residential subdivision designKnowledge of local permitting processes and design standardsStrong understanding of drainage principles and site gradingAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlinesStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to work well in a team-oriented environmentAdaptable to company design and CAD standardsGrowth & ExpectationsDevelop toward independently producing full subdivision and site development CD setsGain experience working directly with a PE for design review and stampingOpportunity for advancement into Project Engineer / Project Manager roles
