Engineer","description":"Position Summary\n\nThis position is responsible for general staff engineering support including development and implementation of MM&CAPEX projects, plant project scoping and financial justification, plant efficiency, performance monitoring and improvements, revenue improvement and cost reduction and project technical lead.\n\nEssential Functions\n\nDevelopment of process improvement projects to maximize generation and profits\n\nManagement of process improvement projects including scope definition, budget, schedule, financial justification and implementation\n\nResponsible for evaluating and finding causes for equipment, procedural, and conditional inefficiencies\n\nDevelop cost effective solutions for equipment issues and operational longevity\n\nResponsible for assessing and obtaining contractor bids for specific projects\n\nAssist with planning and coordinating projects for equipment upgrades, modification and repairs\n\nParticipate in engineering and design review in development of new concepts for plant optimization\n\nMust be able to quickly and physically access and travel to all areas of the plants\n\nMust be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous periods of time and read and understand maps\n\nOther Responsibilities\n\nMay act as Emergency Response Coordinator\n\nPerform special projects and other tasks as assigned\n\nEducation, Experience, and Skills Required\n\nA Bachelor’s of Science degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering or related field\n\nFive (5) years power plant maintenance or related experience, including hands-on experience in maintenance related to cooling towers, heat exchangers, turbine-generators, auxiliary equipment, control systems and environmental equipment is preferred\n\nProfessional Engineering registration preferred or able to obtain within 12 months\n\nStrong organizational and project management skills working with a diverse team of engineers, technicians and contractors\n\nMust have a high degree of initiative, ability to work with minimal or no supervision and a high level of confidentiality\n\nMust have strong organizational and interpersonal skills\n\nMust be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations\n\nMust have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties\n\nMust possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nMust be able to work in plant operating areas including exposure to noise, vibrations, heat and cold\n\nMust be able to wear any required protective equipment, as required by safety procedures and regulations\n\nMust be able to climb ladders, work off of elevated platforms and walkways and work in confined spaces\n\nMust be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions\n\nJob requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling\n\nThe ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive
