Chief Supervisory Field Training Officer

Job SummaryThis position is located in the DC Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV), Compliance and Enforcement Division. The Compliance and Enforcement Division is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all public and private vehicles-for-hire, and enforcing the laws, rules, and regulations of the District as it relates to vehicles-for-hire broadly. Enforcement officers monitor the District streets to ensure that riders, residents, and drivers have a sense of safety, comfort and convenience in the transportation of both people and goods.The primary responsibility of the Chief Supervisory Field Training Officer is to lead the standardization and implementation of uniform and robust training programs. This role focuses on enhancing the consistency and efficacy of training across the division. Additionally, the Chief Supervisory Field Training Officer undertakes assignments similar to those of an Assistant Supervisory Vehicle Inspection Officer (Assistant Chief) of the Division. These responsibilities are secondary to his principal role in training-related matters.Duties And ResponsibilitiesAs the Chief Supervisory Field Training Officer, incumbent utilizes a variety of tools to ensure that enforcement officers are adequately trained, satisfying their metrics, and meeting their responsibilities. Incumbent provides refresher courses to Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) who perform compliance inspections consistent with Title 18 and Title 31, an agency enforcement provision, and other relevant laws, rules, and regulations.Responsible for ensuring that all officers (including Enforcement Division managers) are trained effectively on best practices, standard enforcement principles, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), while also ensuring various components of the Enforcement Division are carried out in line with DFHV policies. The CFTO may also be tasked by the Division Chief with overseeing the day-to-day operations, services, and activities of subordinate VIOs (including Supervisory VIOs). This includes in-field observations and general oversight. Assists with the directing, supervising, and coordinating of the activities and operations of the various enforcement teams. Works closely with the Division Chief on the development of Division policies.Qualifications And EducationSpecialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
