This role requires a pastor’s heart combined with strong leadership and management capabilities to effectively guide staff, ministries, and operational systems to fulfill the church’s mission.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities\n\nPartner with the Senior Pastor to evaluate ministries, establish strategic goals, and drive organizational development\n\nOversee daily operations and administrative functions of the church\n\nLead and manage office staff, facility personnel, and financial team members\n\nEnsure effective communication systems and processes across all church departments\n\nDevelop and implement organizational policies and procedures\n\nEnsure compliance with all legal and denominational requirements\n\nStaff Management & Development\n\nProvide direct supervision and leadership development for key staff members\n\nFacilitate regular staff meetings, planning sessions, and team building initiatives\n\nOversee hiring processes, performance evaluations, and professional development programs\n\nFoster a collaborative and mission-focused work environment\n\nCoordinate staff schedules, responsibilities, and ministry assignments\n\nStrategic Planning & Implementation\n\nCollaborate with Senior Pastor and leadership team on long-term strategic planning\n\nTranslate vision into actionable ministry goals and operational objectives\n\nMonitor and assess ministry effectiveness and organizational health\n\nLead change management initiatives and organizational improvements\n\nEnsure alignment of all ministries with church mission, core commitments, philosophy of ministry, and vision\n\nFinancial & Facility Oversight\n\nWork closely with financial staff to oversee budget development and management\n\nEnsure proper financial controls and reporting procedures\n\nCoordinate facility maintenance, improvements, and space utilization\n\nOversee technology systems and infrastructure needs\n\nManage vendor relationships and service contracts\n\nPastoral Ministry\n\nProvide spiritual guidance, support, and occasional pastoral counseling to congregation members\n\nConduct hospital visits, home visits, and crisis intervention as needed\n\nOfficiate weddings and funerals as needed\n\nMaintain confidentiality and demonstrate pastoral sensitivity in all care situations\n\nPreach and teach in various church settings\n\nMinistry Coordination\n\nCoordinate special events, programs, and church-wide initiatives\n\nSupport ministry leaders in resource allocation and program development\n\nFacilitate cross-ministry collaboration and communication\n\nKey Relationships\n\nReports directly to the Senior Pastor\n\nDirect Reports: Associate Pastoral Staff, administrative staff, and other assigned personnel\n\nCollaborates closely with all pastoral staff and ministry leaders\n\nInterfaces regularly with the Elder Team and volunteer leaders\n\nServes as primary administrative contact for congregation and external partners\n\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation & Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree required; Master of Divinity or related graduate degree strongly preferred\n\n5-7 years of pastoral ministry experience, parachurch executive experience, or corporate executive experience strongly preferred\n\nDemonstrated experience in leadership, management, and organizational development\n\nPrevious employment experience in a multi-staff church environment strongly preferred\n\nSpiritual Qualifications\n\nStrong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to Christian discipleship\n\nClear calling to pastoral ministry with a servant’s heart\n\nExhibits the character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1\n\nAlignment with the church’s statement of faith, mission and Core Commitments\n\nActive involvement in local church ministry and leadership\n\nLeadership & Management Skills\n\nProven ability to lead, develop, and manage staff teams effectively\n\nStrong strategic thinking and planning capabilities\n\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal\n\nExperience with budget management and financial oversight\n\nProficiency in organizational systems and project management\n\nPersonal Characteristics\n\nHigh level of integrity, professionalism, and emotional maturity\n\nCollaborative leadership style with ability to work well with diverse teams\n\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesAdaptability and flexibility in a dynamic ministry environment\n\nCommitment to excellence in all areas of ministry and administration\n\nMinistry Impact\nThe Executive Pastor plays a crucial role in creating an environment where the church’s mission can flourish.
