Position: Tax AccountantDepartment: FinanceReporting to: Director of TaxLocation: Lenexa, KS/ Topeka, KS - OnsiteOverviewAre you a seasoned tax professional who enjoys the work but is worn out by the long hours of public accounting?Join a dynamic in-house finance team where you can apply your expertise in a complex, multi-entity environment — without the traditional busy-season grind.As our Tax Accountant, you’ll support federal and multi-state tax compliance and planning across approximately 30 business entities. With ongoing business growth, new ventures, and evolving initiatives, this role offers meaningful, strategic tax work — not repetitive client returns.We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident managing complex tax matters, while continuously improving processes and thinking beyond the checklist.What You’ll DoTax Compliance & ReportingPrepare and review federal and multi-state tax workpapersPrepare documentation for and review returns prepared by external CPA firmsAnalyze book-to-tax differencesPrepare state apportionment schedulesSupport tax-related disclosures and documentationQuarterly Tax Planning & PaymentsPrepare quarterly tax projections using budgeted and forecasted financial dataAssist in estimating annual tax liabilitiesSubmit quarterly federal and state tax payments and maintain documentationTax Notices & CorrespondenceResearch and respond to federal and state tax noticesCommunicate directly with taxing authorities to resolve issuesMaintain documentation of resolutionsExternal Firm Coordination & Special ProjectsServe as liaison between the Company and external CPA firmsConduct tax research to support compliance and planning initiativesParticipate in process improvements and special projects as assignedExperience You’ll BringBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)3–5 years of public accounting experience with corporate and LLC tax preparationStrong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax complianceProficiency in ExcelExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to manage competing priorities independentlyBonus PointsExperience preparing and filing multi-state tax returnsExperience working within complex, multi-entity structuresWhat You’ll GetAmazing benefits including medical, dental, vision and 401k (with matching options)Generous PTO package from your start dateAccess to an on-site café, gym and primary careContinuous personal and professional development opportunitiesRecognition for hard work & exemplary performanceEmployee sponsored events…and more!Who We AreAdvisors Excel is a fast paced, innovative company that seeks to service independent financial advisors in a multitude of areas within their business.
