We provide outpatient psychiatric care, individual and group therapy, and intensive outpatient programming for the people who hold this city together — first responders, frontline workers, federal employees, professionals, and the broader adult community we serve. We are founded and led by a Black, double board-certified nurse practitioner who spent fourteen years inside violence prevention, trauma services, and crisis response work before deciding to build the practice this community has been waiting for. This is not a startup. It is the next chapter of a fourteen-year body of work, and it is happening. About the RoleWe are looking for a Mental Health Therapist to join the founding clinical team of UnityFirst MindCare. This is a founding clinician role — you will help shape clinical workflows, group programming, our IOP curriculum, and the culture of how care is delivered here. You will work alongside our PMHNP and to provide therapy, psychosocial assessments, and care coordination for a patient population that includes first responders, frontline workers, federal employees, professionals, and the general adult population we serve in our first six months.We are open to applicants holding either of the following independent Maryland credentials: LCSW-C or LCPC. This is an independent clinical role — you will diagnose, treat, and bill under your own credentials from Day 1. What You Will DoConduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for new patientsProvide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, trauma-focused therapies)Co-facilitate group therapy and IOP cohorts, including specialty groups for first responders and trauma survivorsCollaborate with the PMHNP on integrated medication management and therapy plansDevelop and maintain person-centered treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in Athena EHRCoordinate care with hospital discharge planners, primary care providers, and external specialistsParticipate in monthly case consultation, quality improvement reviews, and ongoing program developmentRequired QualificationsActive Maryland clinical credential in good standing: LCSW-C or LCPCMaster's degree from an accredited program (CSWE for social work, CACREP or equivalent for counseling)Comfortable using EHRs, AI-supported documentation tools, and telehealth platformsStrong written and verbal communication skillsMaryland resident or willing to commute to Baltimore CountyPreferred QualificationsTraining in EMDR, TF-CBT, DBT, IFS, or other trauma-focused modalitiesExperience working with first responders, frontline workers, or high-stress professional populationsGroup therapy and IOP facilitation experienceBilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages spoken in our service area)Strong cultural competency relevant to the diverse populations we serveWho Thrives at Unity WellnessYou believe excellent, culturally responsive care should be the standard, not the exception, and you want to be part of building practice that delivers itYou think for yourself.
