Obtains necessary scheduling, demographic, insurance, and clinical information to schedule, cancel, or reschedule events with minimal call transfers or callbacks. Schedules surgeries with physicians and physician office staff using the method designated by the facility. Calls designated departments with information for add-on cases if patients are not yet admitted to the hospital and prepares and sends reservations for each case scheduled within established timeframes. Responds to multiple inquiries from telephone, intercom, and direct communication regarding scheduling of surgery and the main operating room suite. Prepares the advance surgical schedule, scrutinizes tentative schedules, and contacts Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Admissions, surgeons, etc., reviewing other information that affects administration of the schedule. Maintains hospital schedules through various methods such as calls, faxes, etc. Assists with orientation of staff members as needed. Other duties as assigned.
