This encompasses planning, coordinating, implementing, and supervising all program personnel (which includes ongoing recruitment and retention of a specified number of part time staff members). Certain administrative duties also fall within the Unit Director responsibilities, these responsibilities include the day-to-day general administration of a program including, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and facility maintenance. The after-school coordinator also provides direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board.\nCore and Strategic Functions:\nDirect and administer total operation of the School Age Program site including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation\nPlan and conduct a wide variety of programs and activities that maximize the site, support the cause and enhance program participants.\nCreate a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by keeping supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.\nPromote and monitor membership and/or program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation and retention\nAssure facilitated activities are safe, engaging and age appropriate for program participants\nResponsible for maintaining all records and data on each child, employee and volunteer\nResponsible for effectively handling all emergency incidents and submitting proper documentation that may occur in RHYA program, using mature, sound judgment\nRHYA Competencies\nRespect for one self, staff and the overall program.\nRestraint Operate within fiscals and policies approved by the management Board and recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary expense controls and revenue production.\nResponsibilities Recognizes and acts on the need to continually develop others' capabilities to attain the highest level of performance possible.\nProject Management - Supports goal attainment by prioritizing activities, assigning responsibilities in accordance with capabilities, monitoring progress, and evaluating progress.\nQuality Results -Demonstrates and fosters a strong commitment to achieving goals in a manner that provides quality experiences.\nEmotional Maturity - Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills.\nQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:\nEducation & Experience\nA minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an associate degree with four (4) years of youth development experience\n3-5 years’ experience in developing and implementing youth guidance and development programs preferred.\nCPR and first aid certified or be willing to become certified.\nManagement skills are necessary. Proven ability to supervise staff and volunteers.\nKnowledge of (and access to) community organizations and assistance agencies are required.\nMust possess excellent written and verbal skills At least 3 to 5 years’ experience working with youth programs required\nBasic computer skills / Microsoft Office\nMust have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation\nMust have the ability and desire to work with youth in a variety of environments.\nMust have the ability to work independently and efficiently without direct supervision\nAbility to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test\nSUPERVISORY: This position is responsible for supervising other staff.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nThis position generally works M – F, 10AM – 7PM, but may require longer hours outside of this schedule and occasional weekends when necessary. Most work is conducted inside an office and outside an environment, but occasionally requires outdoor events. Occasional overnight travel may be required.\nLicense/Certification:\nDriver's License (Preferred)\nWork Location: In person\nRelationships\nInternal - Maintain close, daily contact with the managing board to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.
