That’s what makes us Roche.The Histotechnician will work in supporting the functions of histology in the performance of routine histotechniques.The opportunity:Histotechniques (Tissue Sectioning and Staining), Maintains basic understanding of foundational histotechniques of embedding, microtomy, coverslipping, processing and primary stainingDemonstrates experience with special and advanced staining techniques on automated staining platformsReceives detailed directions on all work. Follows standard operating proceduresMay perform cell block preparation, screening tissue, cryotomy special staining, advanced staining, grossing and tissue processingMay assist in preparation work for complex techniques under the direction of more senior histology techniciansQuality and SafetyMaintains Right to Operate and ensures that all processes are performed in a safe and healthy manner;Addresses and escalates any potentially unsafe hazards; Ensures timely reporting of safety hazards, incidents and near misses using safety reporting toolsNavigates and understands the quality system and escalates issuesAccurately performs tasks in a regulated environment (OSHA, NMPA, FDA, etc.)Performs and documents all transactions and production instructions with accuracy related to the proper receipt, quarantine, storage, and disbursement of materials as it relates to FDA, OSHA, QSR, ISO, GoodManufacturing Practices and other Roche policies and proceduresAssists with non-conformance investigations, reworks, and corrective actionsParticipates in the review of and provides feedback on document changes, including redlinesAdheres to 95% or above internal training complianceMaintains calibrated equipment including automated staining instrument and equipment maintenanceMaintains complete and accurate records including daily metricsWho you are:Education and Experience Requirements:High School Diploma or GED: Required. Candidates must have at least 5 years of directly related histology experience with a high school diploma or GEDAssociate's Degree: Preferred. Equivalent to 60 credit hours of college coursework in laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or a major in histology. Requires 2 years of directly related histology experience for applicants with an Associate's Degree or equivalent courseworkBachelor's Degree: Preferred. Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree require 1 year of directly related histology experienceCertifications:HT (ASCP) Certification: Required for candidates with an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's DegreeKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesAbility to read, analyze and following Operating ProceduresKnowledge of foundational histotechniques embedding, microtomy, staining and coverslippingKnowledge of basic and specialized laboratory techniquesSkilled with use of word processing and email useDemonstrated experience with Lean / Continuous ImprovementExperience with Google products (gMail, gSheets, gDoc, etc)Experience with SAPAbility to read, write and comprehend EnglishPhysical conditions and PPE requirements: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
