Job Title: Paint Process Engineer Type of contract: Full-time Expected Hiring Date: ASAP Work Location: • Chattanooga, TN • This person will transfer permanently to Toledo, OH in January 2027 Responsibilities • Lead paint development activities to achieve required quality levels and OEM specifications at committed cost • Coordinate cross‐functional teams including plant production, paint setting, laboratory, suppliers, and customers • Ensure paint process stability for both product and process, including quality, repeatability, and consistency • Manage paint technical relationships with raw material suppliers and validate new paint products • Define paint zoning commitments and ensure proper application of Design-to-Paint methodology • Drive jigs development from CAD design through on-site validation, including prototype phases • Lead paint trials, evaluate painted parts, and define necessary adjustments for robust process performance • Validate paint ranges, application parameters, and customer specifications (mechanical and appearance) • Participate in run@rate events and support PPAP activities, including customer buy-offs • Identify paint-related continuous improvement opportunities and support productivity initiatives Profile • This role operates under TISAX confidentiality level [Level 2], requiring appropriate handling of sensitive information • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with relevant experience • Minimum 5 years of experience in paint, coatings, chemistry, or process engineering within the automotive industry • Prior involvement in project organization or cross‐functional project leadership • Strong knowledge of liquid paint application processes for Class A automotive surfaces • Ability to measure and evaluate color, surface structure, and paint defects • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to take full responsibility for paint development results • Strong communication, analytical, and collaborative capabilities • Ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and OEM customers • English required; additional languages are a plus At OPmobility, people truly matter.
