We are seeking a Director of SRE who operates with a Customer-First mindset and an unwavering sense of ownership. You will be the organizational architect who evolves SRE from a traditional support function into a visionary, engineering-first organization. You will lead the creation of world-class reliability tools used internally by Docusign's engineering teams and externally by our customers to provide unprecedented transparency and trust in our platform.This position is a people manager role reporting to the VP, Engineering - Site Reliability.ResponsibilityTake full end-to-end ownership of Docusign's global availability, owning the customer experience and ensuring that every agreement processed is backed by a resilient, invisible infrastructureOversee the development of reliability tools and APIs used internally to accelerate developer velocity and externally by our customers to monitor the health of their account actions and health of their integrations, monitor agreement health, compliance, and platform trustManage and mentor our Principal (P6) and Staff SREs, acting as the strategic partner to our highest-level technical visionaries to ensure their designs solve real-world customer pain pointsNegotiate "Error Budgets" with a focus on the user and advocate for them in every roadmap discussion, understanding that seconds of latency matter for both envelope sender and signer or minutes of downtime represents a blocked business deal for our customersInfluence Architecture of the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that makes "doing the right thing" for the customer the easiest path for our 2,000+ developersAct as the primary liaison with key external partners like Microsoft (Azure) and ensure seamless internal collaboration across Product, Engineering, and Compliance teamsLead the organization from reactive firefighting to a predictive, self-healing culture through the aggressive adoption of Chaos Engineering and AlOpsJob DesignationRemote: Employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and works from a designated remote work location for the majority of the time.Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. Docusign reserves the right to change a position's job designation depending on business needs and as permitted by local law.What you bringBasic15+ years of experience in Infrastructure, SRE, or Software Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a Director-level role managing high-scale SaaS platformsExperience building tools and services, viewing infrastructure as a product and developers/customers as your primary usersExperience taking accountability for complex, global systems and driving them to higher standards of excellenceExperience making technical decisions based on user impact and translating "uptime" into "customer trust"Experience managing and growing high-level ICs (Principal/Staff) and leading visionaries who are technically specializedExperience with public cloud ecosystems and the strategic trade-offs involved in multi-region, high-availability architecturesPreferredExtensive experience building resilient public cloud capabilities and architecting enterprise-grade container orchestration using Kubernetes (specifically Azure Kubernetes Service/AKS)Proven track record of architecting Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and building developer-facing tooling that directly boosts the velocity, autonomy, and productivity of massive software engineering organizationsHands-on experience and deep proficiency in modern programming languages (such as Go or Python) to lead from the front in building infrastructure automation software and internal APIsExperience managing or scaling infrastructure supporting high-demand AI/LLM workloads and predictive analytics modelsYou likely started as a software engineer and still believe that every operational problem is fundamentally a code problemWage TransparencyPay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:California: $212,100.00 - $342,650.00 base salaryIllinois, Colorado, Massachusetts and Minnesota: $202,100.00 - $285,500.00 base salaryWashington, Maryland, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $202,100.00 - $299,625.00 base salaryWashington DC: $212,100.00 - $299,625.00 base salaryOhio: $182,200.00 - $257,350.00 base salaryThis Role Is Also Eligible For The FollowingBonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals.
