As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team with the current accounting and other departments. Candidate will report directly to the controller and president of a closely held corporation. As you will see from the job responsibilities and qualities, listed below this is a “wear many hats” type of position requiring an extremely organized, punctual, creative, reliable, loyal candidate with a strong work ethic that should enjoy working for an established, almost 50 year old Kentucky Corporation, 2nd generation family business that is preparing for phase 2 of a large growth campaign, in people, equipment and physical buildings. Job ResponsibilitiesPrepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statementsPerform bank reconciliationsPerform credit card reconciliationsPayroll and related activities and reportsMonthly Use Tax Multi State reporting1099 / W-2 and related activities & reportsCost Accounting/Inventory ManagementCost Variance reviewProduct PricingDatabase set up and upkeepFixed assets and Depreciation schedulesAccounts Payable/Accounts Receivable experienceTaxation and AuditingMaintain general ledger accountsAnalyze financial statements to ensure company compliance with GAAP guidelinesComplete Month-end and Year-end closing and proceduresAssist in the preparation of budgets and forecastsConduct internal audits to identify potential errors or discrepanciesEnsure compliance with applicable laws and regulationsProvide financial analysis and support to management as neededUtilize software ( ERP) to record and track Financial/ HR / Payroll transactionsStay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulationsIdentify and implement opportunities to improve processes through standardization or automation.Census returns and reportsQualities Desired in Successful CandidateExperience with ERP Oracle NetSuitesMust possess advanced Excel skillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related fieldStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practicesProficiency in accounting softwareExperience with financial statement preparationExcellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesFinancial acumen and understanding of business operationsExperience with double-entry bookkeepingMust be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.Should have good communication skills (verbal and written).Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.Attendance: defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.
