Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs approximately 16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.\r\nJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experiencedCNC Programmerto help structure and improve our programming process on site, divided between local needs, regional needs in collaboration with the Central Design Team, debugging & enhancements coming from machining operations.\r\nThis role is ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving and wants to take an active role in converting legacy machines from manual programming to modernCAD/CAM and conversational programming platforms .\r\nIt also has the potential toestablish role model operationsfor the Manufacturing Center with the variables that John Crane Pasadena possesses and provide continuous improvement initiatives tooptimize and modernize state of the art local and regional programming.\r\nDevelop and maintain offline N/C programs using CAD/CAM software for CNC turning and machining centers.\r\nAnalyze existing manual or outdated programming methods and transition machines toconversational or feature-based programming .\r\nWork withHexagon or similar software platformsfor automated programming and feature recognition.\r\nMaintain and update manufacturing databases and documentation related to standards, methods, tooling, and inspection.\r\nInterpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine manufacturing requirements, up to keeping quality control and tolerances within 0.0003”.\r\nCollaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programming, tooling, and machining processes.\r\nValidate and verify CNC programs for accuracy prior to releasing them to the shop floor.\r\nSpecify machining data, tooling requirements, and work holding strategies.\r\nParticipate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.\r\nMaintain organized records for all CNC programs and associated documentation.\r\nQualificationsHigh school diploma required.\r\n3-6 years’ on-the-job experience in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering field.\r\nProficiency inEDGEMCAM (CAM SOFTWARE).\r\n2+ years’ experience of shop floor CNC programming experience in Turning and Milling operations.\r\n2+ years’ experience in design and programming for rotational and non-rotational tooling.\r\n1+ year experience in CNC programming of parts with tabulated drawing for Turning and Milling operation.\r\nNumerical control machining skills experience and ability to read and interpret work related machine drawings.\r\nAbility to read and writeMAZATROL Programs for MAZAKLathe operations.\r\n3+ years’ experience withFusion360 CAD/CAM software.\r\nExperience with conversational programming and upgrading legacy machines.\r\nExperience creating offline CNC programs compatible withFanuc, Siemens, and Haas controllers , including post-processing for different machine platforms.\r\nFamiliarity withHexagon softwareor similar automated programming platforms.\r\nCapable of modifying CNC programs (both turning and milling) simulated by EDGECAM for replacing the tools originally listed in the program with available tools on the floor.\r\nStrong understanding of machining processes, tool paths, and G-code.\r\nKnowledge of other CADCAM systems ( Mastercam, FeatureCAM, GibbsCAMetc.) is a plus.\r\nDesirable experience with Mechanical Wet Seals.\r\nAbility to travel within the US or other John Crane facilities internationally.\r\nExpected local travel:less than 25%.\r\nSoft skills:\r\nCall to action.
