ITC is a rapidly growing and evolving family-owned and operated business and we need you to join our growing family and client list!\n\nLead AV Technician (Buffalo, NY)\nTitle: Lead AV Technician – Buffalo\nDepartment: Operations\nReports To: Project Manager\nPosition Purpose & Objectives\nThe Lead AV Technician is responsible for directing and overseeing installation teams in the deployment of professional audio-visual (AV) systems, with a strong emphasis on educational environments (K–12 and higher education). This role ensures installations are completed to AVIXA standards, project specifications, and ITC’s quality and safety guidelines.\nThe Lead AV Technician provides technical leadership on-site, supports the professional development of junior technicians, and ensures that all installations meet compliance, performance, and client satisfaction expectations. This position reports to a Project Manager and is part of the Operations team supporting ITC’s mission of delivering Best-in-Class AV integration solutions.\nEssential Responsibilities\nLeadership & Project Execution\nDirect and oversee AV installation teams, ensuring work complies with AVIXA/InfoComm standards, manufacturer guidelines, and ITC procedures.\nCoordinate day-to-day project activities including scheduling, work assignments, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.\nProvide on-site problem-solving, technical expertise, and serve as the primary technical contact for clients and project managers.\nTrain, coach, and mentor junior technicians to develop technical and professional skills, supporting advancement toward certifications (CTS, CTS-I).\nEnsure job sites are professional, safe, and represent ITC with a high level of customer satisfaction.\nTechnical Duties\nInstall and commission AV equipment such as projectors, displays, interactive boards, cameras, control systems, DSPs, and speaker systems with an emphasis on classroom and lecture hall environments.\nTerminate, test, and label AV cabling in accordance with AVIXA standards and ITC’s quality benchmarks.\nPerform system testing, troubleshooting, and adjustments to confirm functionality and performance.\nAccurately interpret signal flow diagrams, architectural drawings, and wiring schematics.\nWork in diverse construction environments: drilling, mounting, working on lifts (above 10 ft.), and accessing confined spaces as required.\nCollaboration & Client Interaction\nMaintain effective communication with Project Managers, Account Executives, and clients regarding progress, issues, and site conditions.\nRepresent ITC professionally with customers, acting as a trusted technical leader.\nProvide feedback on project workflows, identifying opportunities to improve installation processes.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nLeadership Experience: 2–4 years in a lead or supervisory AV installation role.\nCertifications:\nCTS required.\nCTS-I must be achieved within 3 months.\nTechnical Expertise:\nKnowledge of AVIXA standards and best practices for educational installations.\nProficiency with AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX), DSPs (Biamp, QSC), and video/audio distribution.\nFamiliarity with classroom-specific technologies: lecture capture systems, wireless presentation, distance learning tools, etc.\nSoft Skills:\nStrong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.\nAbility to problem-solve under tight timelines.\nProfessional, approachable, and team-oriented.\nOther Requirements:\nAbility to lift 75 lbs. and work on ladders/lifts.\nValid driver’s license and reliable transportation.\nFlexibility to travel regionally and nationally on short notice.\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nDirect and coordinate AV technician teams on job sites.\nProvide coaching and mentoring to junior technicians.\nEnsure compliance with scheduling, safety, and quality standards.\nAct as liaison with client representatives and ITC leadership.\nSuccess Factors\nDemonstrates optimism, professionalism, and accountability.\nLeads by example, showing initiative and adaptability.\nBuilds trust and rapport with both colleagues and clients.\nProvides clear communication, constructive feedback, and team motivation.\nUpholds ITC’s reputation for high-quality AV integration.\nWorking Conditions\nWork may be in comfortable indoor educational environments, but also includes construction sites with varying temperatures.\nRegular use of ladders, lifts, and hand/power tools.\nRegional travel required;
