Responsible for developing CNC programs using CAD and CAM software; and operates conventional and numerical control machines.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProgrammingAnalyze part geometry to determine optimum machine assignmentDesign fixtures and/or tooling to add/transfer parts to machinesDevelop CNC programs using CAD/CAM softwareDebug, revise, back-up, and save edited programs to network systemProgram dynamic probing cycles using Renishaw spindle probesProgram cut-measure-cut sequences for lights out runs, using both custom macros as well as CAM generated probing cyclesProgram breakage/wear checking using Renishaw tool settersProcess EngineeringResponsible for the development of routings and manufacturing instructions using manufacturing engineering practicesEvaluate and approve drawings, estimates production times, and routings/MI's specsSets up and operates machining centers to fabricate metallic and/or nonmetallic partsDownloads programming code through DNC system.Confers with PDT staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methodsMachine Set-Up/OperationCalculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut or enters commands to input or edit computerized machine controlStudies blueprints, sketches and drawings to verify conformance of finished piece to designated tolerance specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks and coordinate measuringCost ReductionsImplement cost savings projectsResponsible for studying time, motion, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rates and improve efficiencyDevelops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods with a focus on automationPerforms other related duties as assigned by management.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsState-approved Journeyman Machinist with 3-4 years of experienceMinimum 5 years of mill programming experienceProficiency with CAD and CAM software, word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, e-mail software, order processing, inventory, and manufacturing.EEO StatementVirginia Panel Corporation is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
