Summer Camp Recreation Counselor
Class Title: Recreation Counselor
FLSA: Exempt
Rate: $15.15-$16.15
SUMMARY
This position will assist all levels of recreation staff; and may be asked to lead, in various functions in all recreational programs, activities and events. The Recreation Counselor will also be responsible for helping organize and set up various activities for participants, and making sure participants are kept busy. This is an entry-level position, open to new counselors and those with 1-2 years of experience.
SUPERVISON RECEIVED
Direct supervision may be received from the Program Leaders, Camp Director, After the Bell Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Facility and Youth Program.

ESSENTIAL DITTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Assists senior staff members in the day-to-day operations of programs and supervision of participants.
Responsible for equipment needed in different activities, taking out balls, bats, etc. and returning to the proper place at the end of activities.
Reports all infractions or issues to immediate supervisor.
May be involved in the discipline of program participants for minor infractions.
This individual may be responsible for filling out necessary forms and reports.
Recreation Counselors will be responsible for the safety and well-being of all participants in the program.
Recreation Counselors will be assigned the task of checking the area at the beginning of the day to make sure areas are clean, healthy and free from hazards.
Cleaning duties include cleaning up following snacks and meals, following craft activities, and at the end of programs or events.
Will walk groups of children to rest room facilities during bathroom breaks.I 0. Will lead and/or assist with activities when requested by senior staff members.
Will organize and plan activities and make suggestions for equipment needed for programs.
May assist with special events and activities.
Will be responsible for participant counts periodically throughout the day, including field trips.
Will perform related duties as required.
Recreation programs and events occur weekdays, weeknights, and weekends. The work schedule for this position is a non-standard work week with a variable schedule to accommodate programs.
