Position SummaryThe Schedule Reliability and Optimization team works with all of the various operating groups on projects involving schedule analytics, line of flight analysis, schedule optimization and block time forecasting. The ideal engineer candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of operational reliability and airline schedules, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and interpersonal skills. The engineer will develop and improve prediction and monitoring algorithms and data models based on information gathered from proposed and operated airline schedules, aircraft systems, flight planning systems, public airline performance datasets, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) services and any other relevant data source. As such, we are looking for someone who embodies our five values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.Essential ResponsibilitiesHelp develop and utilize analytical tools to predict on time performance of flight schedules proposedAid in optimization of proposed schedules for on time performance or other operational goals by applying optimization modelingAnalyze impact of schedule changes and investments to various on time performance metricsContinuously review schedule identifying areas of improvement aimed at improving on time performanceContinuously refine block time modeling methodology to ensure block targets are met and forecasts best reflect operational realities - oversee and identify opportunities to tighten distribution of actual block time performance and maximize system reliability by applying optimization modelingAct as source of truth for all schedule related statistics providing data/insights as neededProduce and ensure accuracy of monthly reporting, build and maintain dashboards to allow other teams access to schedule information/modeling – aimed at ensuring operability of schedules and improved on-time performanceCommunicate performance trends, opportunities, process changes, etc. to senior leadershipSupport JetBlue’s operational reliability strategyOther duties as assigned Minimum Experience And QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Quantitative Analysis, Engineering (any), Mathematics or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experienceExpert-level proficiency with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s) such as Python, or RThree (3) years of analytical experience with proven ability to analyze, compare, evaluate, reconcile and order dataProficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPointExperience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)Have a positive, “can-do” attitude and excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to work under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment Strong written and verbal communication ability Available for occasional overnight travel (10%) Must pass a pre-employment drug testMust be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is locatedAuthorization to work in the US is required. (Sedentary) CompensationThe base pay range for this position is between $89,000.00 and $133,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
