The St. Andrew’s Mathematics Department strives to develop students into resilient problem-solvers, and critical thinkers, who are prepared to fully engage in their future communities as numerate and analytical citizens. Our department is committed to the practice of exploration of deep, thought-provoking problems. As a department, we collaborate to ensure that each class creates opportunities for all students to explore different strategies, communicate their findings using the language of mathematics, and validate their results. We believe that an emphasis on student-centered classrooms, a spirit of teamwork amongst the adults, and meaningful faculty mentorship leads to a vibrant learning experience for students and instructors alike.\nA typical teaching load consists of four sections with two to three preps. This position affords the opportunity to teach all levels of mathematics from Algebra to Multivariable Calculus. The instructor will work with the department chair and math faculty members to ensure an integrated and cohesive curriculum. Candidates should show a lively interest in pedagogy, a collaborative spirit, and an ongoing commitment to teaching students with a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to bringing out the best in each student, working together with colleagues, and meaningful professional development.\nThe position will also involve full participation in the extracurricular and student life programs of this residential community.\n\nJob Qualifications:\nInterested candidates should have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics or a closely related field; teaching experience is beneficial but not required.\nCandidates must have a passion for working with and living in community with adolescents.\nPossession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or canceled, or disqualified from driving).\nCandidates with the experience to coach any of our sports programs will be given strong consideration in this search.
