The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with practical business judgment and thrives in a growing construction environment.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nThe Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s accounting processes and producing accurate, timely financial information. Key responsibilities include:\nOwn and manage the full monthly close process\nPrepare accurate monthly financial statements\nMaintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules\nManage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting\nManage construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, overbillings, underbillings, and accrued project costs\nDevelop and strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting\nWork with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners.\nProvide ownership and management with clear, practical financial analysis\nHelp build scalable accounting processes as the company grows.\nOther duties may be assigned.\n\nMinimal Qualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nWork Experience\n2+ years of progressive accounting experience.\nExperience participating in or managing the full monthly close process.\n\nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities\nStrong understanding of accrual accounting principles and GAAP.\nExperience preparing financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.\nKnowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent attention to detail and accuracy.\nAbility to communicate financial concepts effectively to non-financial stakeholders.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\n\nPreferred Job Requirements\nCertification / License\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.\n\nWork Experience\n3+ years of construction, general contractor, or project-based accounting experience.\nExperience managing cash flow forecasting and working capital.\nExperience with ERP or construction accounting software.\nExperience supporting external audits and coordinating with tax advisors.\n\nCompensation\nConstructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00, plus annual performance bonus and employee-ownership benefits. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.\n\nPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
