This role is hands-on and operations-oriented, with primary responsibilities in Linux system administration and delivery of IT/telecommunications systems in both classified and unclassified environments.\n\nThis position requires full-time on-site work at a customer site near College Park, MD.\n\nKey responsibilities may include:\nImplement, maintain, and enhance complex research infrastructure and its security posture across classified/unclassified spaces\nPerform Linux and Windows system administration for workstations and servers\nInstall, configure, troubleshoot, and integrate GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions\nSupport and administer virtualization platforms, compute/storage, and remote access solutions\nConfigure and troubleshoot networking and TCP/IP (switching/routing basics, port activation, patching/cabling)\nBuild, maintain, and update gold images for Linux and Windows systems; apply baseline configurations and hardening best practices\nExecute routine patching and system/tool updates, and assist with audit/readiness tasks\nSupport security administration activities such as endpoint protection, malware detection, intrusion detection, and logging/auditing solutions\nPhysically set up, cable, label, and power systems; implement required physical controls in secure spaces\nExecute approved procedures for sanitizing and releasing system components/media\nMaintain working knowledge of security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures\n*This position may be eligible for an increased sign-on bonus. Eligibility, bonus amount, and applicable terms and conditions will be discussed during the recruiting process*\n\n#MDFSP\n#PLABS26\nQualifications\nMinimum qualifications\nMinimum of 3+ years of experience and a Bachelors, 1+ years and a Masters, or a PhD in Computer Science or related discipline. 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree, for a total of 7 years of experience\nDemonstrated experience conducting Linux system administration in operational environments\nDemonstrated work delivery experience supporting IT and telecommunications\nExperience installing/configuring IT/network hardware and software\nStrong communication/ and collaboration skills supporting integrated teams (Peraton, customer, subcontractors)\nAbility to document configurations and procedures clearly\nUS Citizenship with an active/current TS/SCI w/ Polygraph is a requirement for this position\nPreferred qualifications\nAdvanced troubleshooting experience with complex network issues such as IPSec, VXLAN, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS\nExperience with VDI and thin client architectures and operations\nExperience administering security tooling such as enterprise antivirus/EDR, malware detection, IDS, and audit/logging solutions\nFamiliarity with open-source security/network tools (e.g., Snort)\nExperience with cloud and data platforms such as OpenStack, Hadoop, and/or Cloudera\nWorking knowledge of AWS platforms/services and common deployment patterns\nFamiliarity with modern network operations and capability delivery processes\nDetails\nTarget Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
