Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach
SUMMARY:? The Coach position is employed to be responsible for the efficient coaching, training, and management of an athletic sports team.??TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:?Payment will be provided based upon a contracted stipend amount set forth at the time of hire and adjusted as determined by School Board. This is a non-tenured part-time position and is subject to annual review.??WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:?Work duties may take place both indoors and outdoors depending on the sport and the time of year.?Physical requirements may include walking, bending, and stooping.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform the Coach position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.??Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and creativity to solve problems, and make work-related decisions??Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data??Reflects accuracy in attention to detail; promotes high aspirations and accountability??Demonstrates a strong work ethic, focused on excellence & improvement??Possesses strong organizational skills and dedication to seeing projects through completion in a timely manner??Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with district employees??Customer service skills offer professional delivery, interpersonal skills - can inspire others??Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, for various purposes??Current Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances; Mandated Reporter training; as well as any other district required trainings?EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:??High school diploma is a preferred requirement or GED?Good communication skills and be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff??SPECIFIC POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:?In conducting this role, the essential duties of the Coach position shall include, but are not limited to the following:??Supervises pupils in the school and community as assigned?Utilizes positive behavior support strategies to effectively manage student behavior.?Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a teamDisplays competence and good judgment in dealing with any physical and/or medical emergency which might ariseAdheres to Federal, State, IU, District, and other applicable procedures, policies, and regulations as well as participation in District approved in-service training?Performs other duties as assigned.Specific Duties for Coaches are as follows:Coaches must complete the PIAA requirements for coaching which includes satisfactory completion the following:NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching CourseNFHS First Aid/Safety CourseRegister for a PIAA Coaching AccountAnnual Cardiac Arrest Awareness CertificateAnnual Concussion Awareness CertificateHead coaches must utilize the required communication tools as follows:Athletic team's email address credentialsMicrosoft Teams account credentialsMaxPreps account credentialsCoaches must comply with the terms set forth in the following documents:Attach to the email any applicable documentsMASD Coaching HandbookMicrosoft Teams ManualTeam Rules and other documentsPresent Contest ScheduleManage volunteer coaches and ensure that they have completed the PIAA requirements for coaching.Comply with the terms and conditions set forth in the Expectations of Coaches document.Comply with the terms, conditions, responsibilities, and policies set forth in the Mifflinburg Area School District's Coach Manual.MIFFLINBURG AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY AND CONFIDENTIALITY REQUIREMENTS:?All property, including intellectual property, materials, equipment, or actual products and services developed or accrued as part of the job duties and responsibilities listed above, is the property of the Mifflinburg Area School District.
