Safe Passages serves over 5,000 children and families annually through our strategies that span the age continuum of birth through young adulthood, including Early Childhood, School Linked Services, Juvenile Justice, Career Pathways, and Equitable Public Health Access. Safe Passages’ work is based on the premises that access to educational opportunity, health services, and family support should not be dictated by race or socio‑economic status, and that healthy and supported young people are better prepared to learn and succeed.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nWork closely with the After School Program Coordinator, after school providers, and school staff to support After School programming and to implement student assessment and other evaluation tools\n\nCoach sports and other recreational activities during After School programming (may include some Saturdays for team sports games)\n\nAssist with enrichment activities and events such as visual and performing arts, technology, leadership, and recreation activities as indicated by Safe Passages staff\n\nSupervise and coach school-based AmeriCorps team members\n\nSupport all transition periods including school day dismissal, snack, academic to enrichment, and program dismissal\n\nAssist with family outreach and after school events such as family nights and student showcases/performances\n\nParticipate in Safe Passages professional development training sessions and monthly After School Team meetings\n\nAttend OUSD and School Site Staff meetings\n\nOther duties as needed\n\nNecessary Skills And Qualifications\n\nAbility to develop strong relationships and work collaboratively.\n\nEnglish skills are required.\n\nCommunication skills necessary to work with children, young people, school staff, and volunteers.\n\nExperience working with database systems to input data and generate reports.\n\nEffective time management and organizational skills.\n\nMust have at least 48 semester units completed from an accredited college, Bachelor’s degree preferred.\n\nExperience working on an urban school site preferred.\n\nClearance of TB test, background (fingerprint) check, and full FDA Approved Covid-19 Vaccination.\n\nHigh level of cultural competency.\n\nYouth development experience preferred.\n\nFor Your Work/Life Balance\n\n13 paid holidays & 1 floating holiday\n\n100% Employer-paid insurance coverage and 75% Employer-paid domestic partner and dependent coverage for medical, dental, and vision benefits\n\nChiropractic & Acupuncture Coverage\n\nPaid time off and sick leave accruals\n\nEmployer-administered Flexible Spending Accounts for Health Care and Dependent Care expenses\n\nEmployer-administered voluntary pre- or post-tax 403 (b) employee retirement contribution account\n\nEmployee Assistance Program\n\nEligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program\n\nEmployment Classification\nThis is a full‑time position with paid time off, sick leave, and medical, dental, and vision benefits.\n\nWork Schedule\n40 hours per week: Monday - Friday.
