Accountant (onsite/hybrid)

Location Notice: AgriBank is currently headquartered in downtown St. Paul. Please be aware that we will be relocating to Richfield, MN in September 2026.Position OverviewAs a key member of the Accounting team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world. The Accountant provides support to AgriBank, SunStream, Foundations and Association accounting staff in regards to cash, general and wholesale loan accounting. Support includes monitoring and reconciling general ledger accounts, creating journal entries, resolving issues and other general accounting duties. This position also performs duties relative to AgriBank’s accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and data entry processing. Job Functions* Accounting & Planning PreparationAccounting PreparationPrepares and posts journal entries with supporting documentationEnsures compliance with GAAP, FCA and internal accounting standardsVerifies, determines codes and keys data for invoicesPrepares and mail check to vendorsVerifies EFT payments transmittedVerifies accuracy and prepares file for annual 1099sEnsures proper approval for travel and other reimbursement procedures are followedVerifies vendor billings are accurate and responsible, alerting Senior or Lead AccountantMaintain records of Bank assetsEnsures proper approval for asset purchases and disposalsAccounting SupportMonitors assigned accounting processes and resolves rejected transactions, errors and exceptionsResearches and escalates issues to achieve resolutionPrepares journal entriesProcesses accounts payable and receivablesProcesses fixed assetsEnters dataEnsures compliance with GAAP, FCA and internal accounting standardsAccount ReconciliationMonitors and reconciles assigned accounts on daily, weekly and/or monthly basisIdentifies, researches, and resolves reconciling items, escalating items to achieve resolutionContacts clients or other Bank departments to gather information to resolve issuesPrepares and submits journal entries to correct items discovered in reconciling dutiesAccounting & Planning CoordinationParticipates in training for new/promoted team members and new/revised processes, as neededPrepares and submits requested information to Bank departments, auditors and other third partiesProject and Process ImprovementsParticipates in Bank and District-wide project teamsExecutes test plansAssists with implementing improvements and documents new or revised proceduresRelationship ManagementResponds to client requests via District Self Service tool, email or phoneResolves client questions, concerns and communicates resolution in a timely mannerAssists clients in resolutions of accounting issues by completing research and recommending solutionsThis job description is subject to change without notice.Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field1 year of public accounting experience or 3 years of related experienceOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job Knowledge Intermediate knowledge of accounting including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assetsIntermediate knowledge of internal controlsBasic knowledge of GAAPBasic knowledge of loan accounting, cash operations, general ledger practicesBasic knowledge of FCA reporting regulations and requirementsBasic knowledge of financial reporting standards and processesSkillsIntermediate proficiency in office software Microsoft Office SuiteIntermediate proficiency in expense management and invoice software (e.g., Concur)Intermediate proficiency in general ledger/accounts payable systemsIntermediate proficiency in reconciliation systemsBasic proficiency in enterprise performance management (e.g. EPM)Physical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesThe AgriBank AdvantageYou are the key differentiator in the marketplace and ultimately the most important factor in helping us fulfill our mission to support those who feed the world. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience.
