This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules. The Grade Foreman provides hands-on leadership, assists with equipment and labor, and serves as a key link between field crews and project management.\nKey Duties and Responsibilities\nPromote and enforce a safety-first culture on all job sites.\nProvide direct, on-site supervision and leadership to assigned crews.\nReview and interpret project plans, specifications, and work requirements.\nWorks with project management to assist with scheduling and adjusting daily work activities to meet production goals.\nManage and oversee excavation activities for assigned crews.\nUnderstand and apply survey and grade staking.\nComplete daily foreman reports and ensure accurate and timely submission.\nReview, verify, and submit crew timecards on a weekly basis.\nIdentify, analyze, and resolve field issues or unforeseen challenges as they arise.\nCommunicate effectively with superintendents, project engineers, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.\nOther duties assigned by manager.\nQualifications\nExperience as a foreman or supervisor in the Heavy Highway/Civil Construction industry.\nWorking knowledge of OSHA standards and safe construction practices.\nStrong familiarity with heavy equipment operations and construction tools.\nAbility to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.\nAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions.\nValid Driver’s License required.\nProficient with power and non-power hand tools and construction equipment.\nAbility to frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift up to 50 lbs.\nPositive, team-oriented attitude with strong leadership and motivational skills.\nStrong time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.\nHigh attention to detail with the ability to identify and address discrepancies.\nWorking Conditions\nProjects may be local in Colorado or travel may be required to projects throughout the United States\nWork is primarily performed on active construction job sites, including highways, roadways, and heavy civil infrastructure projects.\nRegular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust.\nPosition requires walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting in a construction environment.\nMay require extended work hours, early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays to meet project schedules.\nFrequent interaction with heavy equipment, moving machinery, traffic, and construction hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.\nTravel between job sites may be required depending on project location.\nUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all job sites.\nTotal Rewards\nPeople are the most important asset at Ames Construction.\nHourly Wage varies for may factors including experience, knowledge and skills.\nHealth & Welfare: Provided through Local Union Health Fund — medical, dental, vision, Rx\nRetirement: Pension Fund and Annuity Fund employer contributions per CBA\nProject-Based Pay: overtime, shift differential, per diem/subsistence, travel eligible\nAmes-Sponsored Benefits: Mental Health Benefits, Virtual Physical Therapy Benefits\nThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
