Social Media Coordinator (Volunteer Committee Position)The Beaverton Downtown Association is seeking a creative and community-minded volunteer to serve as a Social Media Coordinator as part of the Downtown Promotions Committee. This role helps tell the story of Downtown Beaverton through engaging social media content, event promotion, photography/video, and business spotlights that showcase the people, places, and experiences that make Downtown unique.Position OverviewThe Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Promotions Committee, Board members, volunteers, local businesses, and event teams to help grow awareness of Downtown Beaverton initiatives, events, and businesses across digital platforms.This is a great opportunity for someone interested in marketing, communications, content creation, community engagement, photography, public relations, or nonprofit experience.ResponsibilitiesCreate and schedule social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTokPromote Downtown events, programs, volunteer opportunities, and local businessesAssist with content creation including photos, videos, reels, graphics, and captionsHelp maintain a consistent Downtown Beaverton brand voice and visual identityAttend select BDA events to capture content and engage with the communityCollaborate with local businesses and committee members on promotional campaignsAssist with business spotlights, event recaps, and storytelling contentTrack engagement and help identify opportunities to grow reach and visibilityIdeal Skills & InterestsWe welcome volunteers of all experience levels, especially those with interests in:Social media marketingPhotography or videographyGraphic designWriting and storytellingEvent promotionCommunity engagementSmall business supportExperience with Canva, Instagram Reels, Facebook Events, or content scheduling tools is helpful but not required.Volunteer ExpectationsAttend monthly Promotions Committee meetingsContribute approximately 2–5 volunteer hours per monthParticipate in at least one Downtown event or promotional campaign annuallyWork collaboratively and positively with community members and businessesAbout the Promotions CommitteeThe Promotions Committee works to position Downtown Beaverton as a vibrant, welcoming, and active destination by creating marketing campaigns, events, storytelling initiatives, and community partnerships that support local businesses and enhance Downtown’s identity.Interested volunteers can attend a committee meeting or reach out to learn more about getting involved.
