This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automation technologies used in the production of energy storage solutions. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Quality, vendors, and global engineering teams, this position drives system performance, standardization, and continuous improvement across the facility.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nLead the design, development, commissioning, and performance optimization of automation and controls systems supporting BESS production.\n\nServe as the local subject matter expert (SME) for automation and controls technologies, ensuring production lines operate safely and efficiently.\n\nProvide on‑site technical support and troubleshooting for PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and related controls equipment.\n\nDevelop and lead FMEA and risk assessments to prioritize process and equipment improvements.\n\nMentor and support team members in PLC programming, robotic programming, vision system analysis, and other controls technologies.\n\nEnsure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations, including ISO, ANSI, and RIA.\n\nDevelop, maintain, and control automation documentation such as control system specifications, wiring diagrams, and operating procedures.\n\nMaintain accurate records of control system configurations, revisions, and change history.\n\nCollaborate with vendors and suppliers to specify, select, and procure automation and controls components.\n\nSupport the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of North American Controls Standards.\n\nCoordinate with overseas headquarters and cross‑functional teams on future projects to optimize and drive continuous improvement.\n\nParticipate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) for automation and controls systems.\n\nSupport system integrations including SCADA, MES, QMS, WMS, EAM, TPM, and EMS platforms.\n\nTravel up to 30% as required to support projects and system implementations.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Skills and Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Systems Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.\n\n3–5 years of experience working in automation and controls within a manufacturing environment.\n\nHands‑on experience with PLC systems (preferably Siemens), SCADA systems, and HMI interfaces.\n\nExperience in the battery industry or similar industries such as power generation, high‑volume/low‑mix automotive, or medical manufacturing.\n\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.\n\nProficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics and control wiring diagrams.\n\nDesired Skills and Qualifications\n\nMaster’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Manufacturing Engineering.\n\nSix Sigma certification.\n\nExperience working with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).\n\nExperience in lithium battery manufacturing or electrical component manufacturing.\n\nAbility to speak Mandarin.\n\nThis job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position.
